Filing Bankruptcy More than Once

Can you file bankruptcy more than once?

The law provides that you can file a Chapter 7 liquidation bankruptcy once every eight years and that you can file that for a total of three times in your lifetime.

There is no limit to the number of Chapter 13, re-organization bankruptcies that you can file.

Finally, all parties dealing with the court have the obligation of operating honestly and in good faith. If the court determines that successive filing of bankruptcy petitions by a debtor is abusive the court has the right to sanction the debtor and dismiss the bankruptcy petition.
