Chandler is located in the east valley within Maricopa County. Chandler was named by its first inhabitant and the first veterinarian surgeon in Arizona, Dr. Chandler, in 1891. He originally obtained land to study irrigation engineering. Soon Dr. Chandler acquired enough land to being a town, hence the name "Chandler."
